The Goodbye Gossip Girl Review

I'm reading: The Goodbye Gossip Girl ReviewTweet this!

The first thing I did after coming home from vacation was sit down to a big bowl of pho. Second was watch the season finale of GG. Okay, I lie... I slept for 10 hours and then turned on my laptop to watch it. I suppose it was pretty good but I would’ve preferred more of a cliff-hanger, and less of an afterschool special type conclusion. I could feel the expression of disgust on my face when GG said that “Gossip Girl is everyone”. Why make it sound like such a bad thing? If it weren’t for gossip, high school would be so boring. Heck, life would be so boring. They should be congratulating themselves on being able to work together to make such a huge server of juicy info that got them through their academic lives. And lucky enough to have it just texted to them instead of having to fish for it themselves on Facebook, especially when some people like to be troublesome and privatize their pages. Plus “ability to work in team settings”, “attentive to details” and “analytical skills” are assets... I believe these are called transferable skills ;)

Not sure if we’ll ever see Nelly Yuki again so I’m glad she was adorable one last time for us. That girl gets to change headbands and glasses! Getting way drunk before everyone else is such a suppressed Asian with control-freak parents thing to do. Lusting after Dan also pretty believable since he’s (1) not Asian, thus a rebellion against the parents and (2) a big nerd, so its not straying too far. So disciplined we are. I’ll miss awkward Nelly Yuki when she’s off at Yale next year.

While I have enjoyed all the Chuck and Blair moments this year, I started to get really sick of it this time. I think we’ve heard “Why can’t you say those words to me?” one too many times from Blair. And all the back and forth-ness was starting to get tiresome. Was cute though when she was stripping and asked what he thought of her headband. Many have squealed to me about how romantic it was that he travelled the world and brought back all her favourite things. Me, I disagree. Maybe I’m too much of a cynic but that was a major turn off. How about just being there? Not much for over-extravagance... that’s not romantic; that’s just extra. Wonder what the writers will do next season to pull these two apart just to set them back together. Vanessa’s pregnant! There needs to be more baby scares considering how much sex these kids have.

So there will be GG - The College Years. Will it be the same? We all know gossip’s more fun when we’re stuck under the same roof. How else would you not-talk but talk behind someone’s back. Then again, it’s not like these kids ever really went to school before so why should college be any different? Completely unrealistic that Georgina can request for Blair as a roommate without Blair’s consent but then again, the UES is a fantasy world and what’s more fantastic than that crazy b&tch? WWGD -- Amen.
